Obama's "Other Race Speech"- My Take..

Much of the political buzz last night was word that the Drudge Report had released a supposedly damning video of then Senator Obama giving a speech at Hampton University in 2007 in which he reportedly makes many racial comments that are causing a bit of a stir.

Now for one, it should be known that there is a bit of evidence that points to that fact the Matt Drudge of the Drudge Report website have ties to the Romney campaign (specifically its staffers) and the timing of this video "hitting the net" is INCREDIBLY suspicious.

Secondly, it should also be noted that this video isn't new and was talked about during the 2008 election as well, which makes its "re-release" just a day before the first Presidential debate quite curious indeed.

Finally, it should also be known (and fairly obvious) that the video posted on the Drudge Report has been edited A LOT. Not necessarily saying they took Obama out of context but it should be known their video only shows a small fraction of the full speech. The website BuzzFeed also posted a video from this event and when I watched both videos and noticed a distinct difference in tone. Not surprisingly the Drudge video skips the whole story/parable then-Senator Obama was using (though his article does mention it).

Ultimately, these videos both show the same event and as such, I strongly advise my readers to watch both videos and then make your own conclusions about what kind of message then-Senator Obama was trying to convey to his audience at Hampton University. Personally, I don't find the video anymore damning than the "secret" videos Mother Jones posted about Mitt Romney were. However I do find Drudge's timing of releasing this "new" video to be 100% political and meant to hang over the President's head during the debate tonight. I do find it a bit unlikely that Romney will mention though..

And on that note, here are the two videos in question:
